Born and raised in Imperial County (Brawley, CA). Following high school I spent 6 1/2 years in the U. S. Marine Corps (1957-1963).
 
 

                            
   I retired from law enforcement (in 2004) after 17 years with the California Highway Patrol (1966-1982)  

            and  17 years with the Imperial Country Sheriff's Office (1964-1965 & 1989-2004)
